I think it's nice when equals are liberal with thanks toward each other's positive behavior, so I do thank people for treating me with respect, doing the housework, etc.
But when the situation is white people needing to let go of the extra resources we hogged, we are not owed thanks from the people we took those resources from.
And no one gets to say "I treated someone with respect / did the housework in the 1960s, so you can't ask me for more, plus you have to keep thanking me for what I did back then."
