I'm glad you were able to frighten the guy following you so he ran away. Learning to confront the predators, to deny them what they want to see, that's one of the important things. Brava!
I didn't really know how to do that when I was young. I learned, though - many years later, when a man grabbed me on a deserted street one night and tried to drag me into the shadows, I resisted until I saw a cab roaming down the street, then somehow (I think it was all my tai chi lessons kicking in) broke his hold, dashed out in front of the cab ot get it to stop, and jumped in.
