I've developed my own thoughts on why the interpretation of horoscopes in this fashion has a certain degree of relevance and meaning
I can't remember if I've ever shared my own theory with you.
I suspect (but cannot prove, of course) that it's because of the collective unconscious. Western astrology (and Chinese too) has been around in much the same form for a good many thousands of years. In that time there have been quite a few people who knew it well -- by which I mean, knew the interpretations of the signs and planets and houses and the relationships between them. As a result, this collective body of knowledge has made its way into the unconscious mind of our entire race.
And I believe that that hidden knowledge influences us through our developing lives, without our having any idea of what planets we have in what signs and houses. Either that, or we choose the time and place of our birth to correspond to what we need to be happening astrologically -- but that feels like more of a stretch to me.
